There is a song in the playlist I practice yoga to – Magic by Coldplay. When I hear the words and rhythm while I practice I feel strong and focused – successful for that moment. I focus. I realized recently that I do think yoga is magic; it’s a transformation to a more positive way of life on and off the mat. This is the magic I feel on the mat and off the mat, a lot of it’s interchangeable and becomes one as part of my whole being. Are you looking for some magic?
On the mat:
- Get stronger
- Get longer / more flexible
- Improve breathing
- Improve balance
- Improve posture
- Increase self-awareness
- Reduce stress
- Increase resilience
- Increase the ability to focus
- Find clarity
- Focus on the present moment
- Self-regulate
- Reduce pain and tension
- Follow one instruction at a time
Off the mat:
- Improve sleep
- Improve mood
- Reduce stress
- Relax the way you react
- Pause before you respond
- Take a breath to calm down
- Practice a pose you like to unwind
- Increase confidence
- Reduce insecurity
- Improve cognition
- Increase clarity
- Take a moment when you need one
- Realize that you have choices in how you feel
- Improve breathing
- Slow down some of the aging process or allow you to appreciate it
- Remember to practice the present moment
- Remember that gratitude is a way of life
- Be humble and kind
- Strong, balanced, flexible
- Stand upright
- Understand how to improve imbalances
- Encourages you to have “overall” healthier habits
If you feel you could benefit from a positive transformation, find a yoga class that works for you. Be consistent. You will grow into the magic. You know it’s true.
The magic I see is when someone comes to class and works with the mind and body they have today leaving the class feeling better than when they came in. I see healing relationships when parents come with children. When two or more people come together, the magic is the bond that’s created through their practice together.
